During the climactic battle in Avengers: Endgame, Captain America (Chris Evans) is able to pick up Mjolnir and wield it. It’s an exciting moment, but one that contradicts some of what we know about the weapon.
What makes a hero worthy of wielding Mjolnir? Is it being a capable warrior, or is it something more? In the film Age of Ultron, the Avengers hang out at Tony Stark’s house, and someone brings up the idea that only a “worthy” warrior can lift Mjolnir. Everyone tries, but they fail. Until Captain America — who, by the way, is not only a capable warrior but also willing to sacrifice himself for others — steps up to try and he succeeds!
It’s an electric moment, and a clear sign that Cap is indeed worthy of picking up Mjolnir. But that doesn’t mean he is capable of handling it in the long term. This article looks at why Mjolnir might crumble under Cap’s strength in the future, and what may be preventing it from doing so.
This set comes in a large rectangular box with a tab on the top that allows it to be re-sealed. The front features a photo of Mjolnir, sitting upside down on the stand and crackling with electricity. The back shows a different image of Mjolnir, this time flipped over, still on the stand and also crackling with electricity. The set also includes a figure of Jack O’Lantern, who first appeared in Dark Reign: Made Men#1/3. The figure is sculpted by Jonathan Matthews and painted by Jeremy Cook. It’s not as bright as a traditional Marvel figure, but it accurately portrays the version of Captain America seen in Avengers: Endgame.
