Captain America: Falcon Book Review

The Falcon, aka Sam Wilson, has been a stalwart friend of Captain America for years. He defended him in the Battle of Wakanda and helped Steve Rogers get his memories back when the Red Skull orchestrated his death. He stayed with the shield-slinger even when Bucky Barnes took over as Captain America. During that time, the Falcon also tangled with many of the shield-slinger’s enemies, including William Burnside (the 1950s Cap who went crazy), Arnim Zola, Doctor Faustus, Baron Zemo and a Hydra Captain America – as well as his first loyal companion, the hawk Redwing.

Anthony Mackie’s appearance in Civil War cemented the character as a fan favorite and shot him to fame in the MCU. This comic book series gives him the chance to expand on that role and bring more depth to his story. Writer Christopher Priest combines a lot of action, intrigue and drama into the story.

The story opens with a SHIELD agent named Robbie Robertson meeting with Falcon in Harlem and telling him he wants to take down an enemy combatant at Guantanamo Bay who is now on the run. He believes she is working for the Rivas family. Falcon explains that he helped her escape, but that she now needs his help. He asks Robbie to meet him in Cuba.
