Captain America is the most recognizable character of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and possibly one of the most famous patriotic American superheroes in popular culture. Evans’s portrayal of Cap has earned him a devoted fan following and the respect of many critics. He has been hailed for his “compelling performance” and as the perfect choice to play the hero. But now, with the upcoming endgame of Avengers: Endgame, speculation is high that the actor will hang up his red, white and blue shield.
Following the war, Rogers was injected with Abraham Erskine’s Super Soldier Serum, which transformed him into a powerful super-enhanced soldier. Senator Brandt enlists Rogers to promote war bonds, and he accepts the assignment as his new mission, becoming Captain America.
After a successful campaign, Rogers returns to the Avengers Compound where he is reunited with fellow surviving members of the Howling Commandos and Stark. He later learns from Lang that he has been trapped in the Quantum Realm. Together, they attempt to unlock the key to time travel. Rogers agrees to return to his own timeline with Barnes, Wilson and Banner.
Using his knowledge of Hydra’s plans, Rogers assembles the SSR team to infiltrate a final Hydra base. They capture Dr. Arnim Zola and discover that Schmidt intends to use the Tesseract’s advanced weapons to destroy major American cities. During the battle, Rogers proves himself worthy to wield Thor’s hammer Mjolnir and takes down Thanos and his army of devastated planets.
