As one of the most beloved heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, captain america actor chris is no stranger to blockbuster success. He first portrayed the earnest World War II enlistee in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, and has reprised the role in subsequent installments, including The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). He’s also made a number of cameo appearances, including in Ant-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Captain Marvel.
Evans was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Lisa Capuano, a drama teacher at the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, and G. Robert Evans III, a dentist and a politician who is the brother of U.S. Representative Mike Capuano. He was introduced to acting when his older sister, Carly, began participating in local and regional theatre productions. He continued to act in plays throughout his teens, and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City.
After a few guest spots on television shows and two unknown low-budget films – Cherry Falls (1999) and The Newcomers (2000) – Evans landed his first leading role in Not Another Teen Movie (2001), a slapstick spoof of teen comedies. He followed with the teen caper The Perfect Score (2004) and the thriller Cellular (2004), in which he played a student who receives a kidnapping call from a wrong number.
In the last year, Evans has starred in Rian Johnson’s smart and funny Knives Out as a gleefully sadistic hitman, and in Apple’s action film Ghosted, as an assassin who steals the identities of real-life criminals. He’s also reviving his career as an actor of more serious fare, with roles in Sylvain White’s neo-noir The Losers (2010) and Edgar Wright’s vitally inventive comedy Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010).
